Join illustrator Jason Chin for a reading of the Caldecott award winning book, Watercress, followed by a foraging walk with forager and food sovereignty advocate, Tina Picz! Watercress is a semi-autobiographical story by Andrea Wang, illustrated by Jason Chin. As a child of Chinese immigrants, Wang feels shame when harvesting wild watercress from the roadside with her family. Her understanding of this family tradition changes when she learns parts of her history she's never known before. During this family program, we'll take in the story of Watercress, learn about Jason's illustrating process, then set out with family, friends, and local forager, Tina Picz, to search for nourishing wild edibles!
