A couple days ago I sent out an announcement about two orientation/planning sessions later this week for people interested in volunteering in the Knotweed effort in Waitsfield. Because of an oversight on my part, we need to move these sessions to next week. I hope this move doesn't inconvenience anyone.

Here are the new, and correct dates and times:

Here's some background on these sessions.

If you've been out and about and looking at Knotweed the last few days you may have noticed some little red shoots starting to appear. This means that the new Waitsfield Knotweed eradication campaign needs to spring into action soon.

If you have some interest in getting involved, Bob Cook and I, from the Waitsfield Conservation Commission, would like to invite you to a planning and orientation session next week. We'll explore the various roles volunteers can fulfill, get advice on good times to gather for some regular working sessions during the knotweed growing season (mid-May through mid-September), provide a little background on knotweed and how it spreads and the damage it does to the Valley, review the sites we're targeting for attention this year and, finally, talk about the eradication techniques we'll be employing.

Waitsfield will be joining with Warren in this initiative, and benefiting from the experience Warren has gained over the last three years in eradicating Knotweed.
