Vermont Green Up Day is Saturday, May 7.
Volunteers are needed to pitch in to pick up trash along roadsides, in and near parks, and other public places around town.

Bags: Pick them up at the municipal offices and at Sunflower Market on Rt. 100.
Two drop-off locations on May 7: The town garage on Guptil Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (near the Post Office) and Rodney's Transfer Station on River Road near the Ice Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please do not leave bags along roadsides as there is no pickup service.

Green-ing up is as easy as finding a spot to clean up and getting it done. There is an online signup to help coordinate efforts at https://tinyurl.com/WaterburyGreenUp2022. Know that the signup is just a guide and not required. The more people who use it though, the handier it is. It's a good way to "claim" a spot and to see where others are planning to clean up so you can choose a location. And if the spot you choose is already cleaned when you arrive, just keep looking!

This year there seems to be an abundance of roadside trash so all efforts will make a difference and be appreciated.

GREEN UP REQUEST: Is there a school group, sports team, organization, etc. interested in taking the 5- and 15-cent redeemable bottles and cans we collect to rinse and redeem and keep the $$? It would be great to not send them to the landfill. Email me for details.
