Hello Everyone,
Come join us for the Moretown Freshies Farmers' Market this Wednesday, August 21st from 4:30-6:30/7:00pm at the Moretown School. This week, Colleen will be making another delcious dinner, featuring breaded eggplant, tomato, pesto, fresh mozzarella paninis with a side of salad. Jenna will be back with her garden goodness with eggplant, basil, tomatoes, summer squash, beans, carrots, napa cabbage, and flowers. Get the napa while you can, as I may scoop up a bunch of it for my next batch of kimchi! Karen will likely join us with her delicious Mountain Woman and Mountain Man Bars, maple syrup, herbs, and eggs. It has been great having Mike with his flavorful jalapeno hot sauce, and I bet he'll be with us this week too. I'm hoping that Constancia will make her debut with her wonderful goat cheeses. Have I forgotten anyone?
My daughter Sofya will have her yummy homemade brownies. They keep getting better and better! Last week's batch was chocolaty, fudgy, and delicious! I'll have my fun and flavorful fermented foods and drinks. I've got three jars of kimchi left and Celtic Kraut in quarts and pints. I'm hoping that the blackberry-peach-ginger soda I started on Saturday will be ready by Wednesday and that the kombucha I bottled last week will be perfectly fizzy. If it is, I'll have lots of ginger-lemon and perhaps the new black-currant flavor that I tried for the first time. I'll definitely have Maple-Vanilla Bean Greek yogurt and plain yogurt available.
Who knows, if this warm weather holds out, maybe I'll get one crock of fermented cucumbers-- which some people call half-sour pickles-- before the frost comes. Here's hoping I'll be able to share their pungent, garlicky goodness with you soon.
