Posting for a friend: Judy Chaves, author of the book Secrets of Mt. Philo, which you can find at Flying Pig book store. Her walks are great fun and bring to life all the research she's done over the years.
Saturday morning, May 7, I'll be leading one of my history-focused guided hikes up Mount Philo. Come learn about the mountain's fascinating past and how it ties into an important, larger landscape history--of Vermont, the Northeast, and the country. Discover the park's hidden-in-plain-sight secrets that you probably walk by all the time. Early May is a great time for this: the park is closed (no cars!) and the lack of foliage makes for excellent visibility. The hike is free; number of participants is limited to 20. Email Judy Chaves (chaves@gmavt.net) for more details and to sign up. Whether you're new to the park or a Mount Philo regular, surprises lie in store!
