Please join your Community Senior Center for a unique opportunity to learn about the creation of Vermont's public schools. Although this presentation is an examination of early school history in the Town of Essex with emphasis on establishment of school districts, much is applicable to the evolution of all of Vermont School districts.  The period covered is from the earliest years of the Town's existence in the 1760s up to the mid 1800s.  Selected transcripts from Town records and other source material have also been included to add the flavor of the times.
