On Wednesday, May 28th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, Beth Jacob Synagogue hosts a Vermont Public Television screening and discussion of clips from The Story of the Jews with Simon Schama and Tales from a Yiddish Theater.
In The Story of the Jews, noted historian, author and critic Simon Schama explores the Jewish experience from ancient times to the present day in this new five-part series. Tales from a Yiddish Theatre is a profile of Montreal's thriving Yiddish performing arts community, viewed through the activities of the city's Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre, which is helping to spur a renaissance in Yiddish culture.
Following the clips, a panel with Avram Patt, Lars Nielsen and Rabbi Tobie Weisman will provide their reactions. This event is free and open to all. For more information, visit www.bethjacobvt.org or call 802/279-7518.
