Asked to sum up why she is a Toastmaster, a friend stated, "I started attending our local Toastmasters Club, Savvy Speakers, in October 2020 as a way to meet people and engage 'outside' my home. It has been a rewarding and enriching experience, and I welcome you, my neighbors, to come join as a guest to see what it is all about. You will laugh, you might cry, you will learn about yourself and others, and you are likely to be a more humanly human after the experience. I am. Every meeting I come away with something new."
Officially stated, Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to overcome their fear of public speaking and sharpen presentation skills. Other benefits include the opportunity to increase one's confidence, build critical thinking skills and become an effective listener.
(Personally, I can't emphasize the importance of this last one enough!)
We meet on Zoom the first and third Tuesdays of the month (this month, that will be tonight, February 1, and in two weeks on February 15). On occasion, we do hybrid meetings depending on the needs of the group that week. Club website: https://savvyspeaker.toastmastersclubs.org/
