Good Samaritan Haven, in partnership with the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub, are hosting a public screening of Emilio Estevez's "The Public." The film, starring Emilio Estevez and Alec Baldwin, is a raw and important story about a civil act taken by people experiencing homelessness in Cincinnati, who take over the public library to seek shelter from the bitter cold. The film will kick off an important community discussion about the ongoing homelessness crisis in Vermont and around the country.
There will be a 15 minute pre-show discussion, 2 hour movie screening, and 45 minute post-show discussion led by Good Sam staff. The event is open to the public by donation, with 10% of proceeds benefiting the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub and 90% Good Sam. Concessions will be available for purchase with a pay it forward model to ensure all in attendance can access this resource.
Date: Friday, February 7th.
Time: 6:00PM, doors open at 5:30PM.
Location: Montpelier Performing Arts Hub, 35 College St, Montpelier. The building has a capacity of 165. Attendance will be first come, first serve.
