Hello skaters! Please see the call for volunteers below from Paul, South End resident and Parks and Rec lead on the outdoor rinks at Calahan Park. Your help is needed! -Michael
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning,
Thank you all again for your help last year with your hard work building and maintaining the Calahan rinks.
With cold temperatures on the horizon, Calahan Community Rink is once again coming online and we are calling on all potential volunteers to come help out. Tomorrow we will be hosting a volunteer day to construct and flood the rink. We will need as many hands on deck as possible in order to get these rinks assembled and ready for another year of outdoor skating. We will be meeting on site tomorrow morning at 9am and will be out through to the afternoon. The snow is expected later in the day so we would like to get as much done in the morning as possible. Tasks we need volunteers for tomorrow include:
• laying out the plastic liners
• cutting and seaming liners together
• filling and distributing sand bags
• installing kick plates
• installing up rights for lights
• flooding both rinks
• cleaning up the warming hut
• installing lights around rinks
Please come and lend a hand if you have some time in your schedule tomorrow. We are also looking for super volunteers that can help clear snow and flood the rinks throughout the season on the weekends. If you are interested in being a super volunteer, please let me know. Without super volunteers, the community rink may lose out on skating days for the season.
Thanks all and I hope to see you out there tomorrow!
Paul
