Community Conversation with a Few MRUUSD Board Members

Past event
Oct 25, 2021, 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Greetings Mill River Community!

The next Community Conversation with MRUUSD school board members is on Monday, October 25th, at 6:30pm. The board members scheduled to be at the Conversation are Bjorn Behrendt (Wallingford, serving on the Personnel committee and chairing the Policy Committee), Bruce Morton (Wallingford, serving on Personnel, Policy, and Buildings and Grounds Committees), and Maria French (Wallingford, serving on Personnel, Policy, and chairing the Community Engagement Committee).

For those who have not yet taken part, this is an online session with 2-3 Mill River district school board members and usually 4-10 community members where people can ask questions, share suggestions, and talk in a less formal session than a full school board or committee meeting. The school board members present will share from their own experience and public information but will not take any action or represent any board stance that has not been previously approved and shared by the full board.

Our hope for these sessions is for board members to learn more about the communities they represent in order to take more informed action in board meetings, for community members to better get to know their representatives, and to clear up misunderstandings.

Any question about board work and the district is fair game and, as long as our reply wouldn't violate confidentiality, we will do our best to answer them or direct you to a more reliable source of information than ourselves. Notes taken will be added to a FAQ document that should be on the website around the beginning of the coming school year. We will inform you as soon as that document is up and available. Conversations will not be recorded, except by a board note-taker.

These sessions take place on the third Monday of each month at 6:30pm. Please email us at communityengagement@millriverschools.org to request the link to the google meet. We are holding these meetings virtually while Covid continues to spread in our communities, but look forward to the day when we will all meet around a table.

Come if you are interested, curious, or have a question or concern about our schools.
