Compassion and Resilience Series from Karuna Community Meditation Beginning in November

As the days grow shorter and the winter holidays approach, many of us feel a turn inward, and perhaps an increased vulnerability. With this in mind, Karuna Community Meditation is hosting a seven-week series on Compassion and Resilience. In this offering, students will learn meditation practices for becoming more connected with the body and emotions, including RAIN (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture/Nonidentification) practice for working with difficult emotions, and meditation practices for cultivating compassion for the self and others.

Who: Beginners and experienced meditation practitioners are equally welcome to participate. Pre-registration is required, and participants are asked to commit to attending all or most of the seven-week session. *While meditation can be fertile ground for spiritual growth and healing, it is not a substitute for therapy. Mindfulness practices might not be appropriate for individuals working through unprocessed trauma; participants are encouraged to speak with any mental health providers before enrolling.*

When: every Sunday from 10-11:15AM, from November 7 – January 2 (no class 12/26)

Where: Jenna's House, 117 St. Johns Road, Johnson (wheelchair-accessible)

Cost: all sessions are offered freely, with donations accepted

The group is led by Molly Zapp, who began practicing meditation 16 years ago, mostly in the Buddhist vipassana/ Insight tradition. She is currently training to become a certified mindfulness meditation teacher through a program developed by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, under the mentorship of Devin Berry.

Please email mollyzapp@live.com with any questions, or to register by November 6.
