Scrag Mountain Music and New Music on the Point present
A Murmur in the Trees
Sunday, September 12 at 11 am
Hubbard Park New Shelter 400 Parkway St., Montpelier
Join us for A Murmur in the Trees, an immersive concert experience performed in nature with works inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem of the same name. This program features a new work by Brandon-based composer Eve Beglarian written for twenty-four double basses that treats a piece of birch bark as a musical score. This half-hour staged piece encourages listeners to move among the musicians and nature, creating their own unique experience of the piece and the place. Also on the program is a new song setting of Dickinson’s poem by Marshfield-based composer Evan Premo for soprano (Mary Bonhag) and two double basses (Evan Premo and Robert Black of Bang on a Can All-Stars). This program is free, with reservations encouraged. All attendees are asked to please wear a mask or face covering at all times.
