The 12th annual Load the Latchis Food Drive takes place tomorrow—Thursday, August 19th on the FLAT STREET side of the Latchis Theatre !
Drop off one or more bags of grocery items to help us fill every seat in the historic 750-seat theater with food for our neighbors in need. Monetary donations are also being collected—every $20 raised fills a seat and allows Foodworks to provide a 2-week box of food for a family of 4! Items for donation should be within their expiration or best by date and need not be non-perishables. We appreciate contributions of fresh items such as garden produce, eggs, and dairy and can shuttle them immediately up to cold storage at Foodworks. We'll also gladly accept personal care items, diapers, and pet food!
Monetary donations make the biggest impact, allowing Foodworks to purchase what we need, when we need it at way below wholesale prices (we purchase large quantities of food directly from the Vermont Foodbank). Every dollar we raise is leveraged by Foodworks' network of "fresh rescue" stores—redistributing perfectly good donated food before it could possibly go to waste.
