There was a suggestion, earlier this summer, that we sponsor a program that we might call 'Craftsbury History 101', as a way of introducing the story of Craftsbury's founding, as well as subsequent historical events, to an audience of community members that is continually being updated as people come to live here. It turns out that we have had videos of the Community Pageants that took place in 1929, and then with a reenacting in 1989, both of which were filmed with the technology of the era.
I was able to find a local resource for digitizing the video, and as a result we have an hour-long movie that addresses the very same topic that we had looked to address with a program, only in an original, interesting way. So, we will be showing this video on July 28, at 7 pm in the main room of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
We'll show the DVD, discuss for about a half hour, and end the evening with ice cream and homemade cookies. Put it on your calendars.
