Vote on Municipal Complex May 13

Past event
May 13, 2014

Just slightly over a week remains before the deadline to vote on rescission! If rescission of the Town Meeting vote which approved funding for the Municipal Complex is itself approved, the project is dead! This vote is crucial to the future of the Waterbury community and the culmination of literally thousands of hours of work by hundreds of local volunteers!

If you have already voted in person at the Town Clerk's office or by absentee ballot, congratulations! If you have not yet voted, you should consider the convenience of voting early and get it done. It's as easy as phoning the Waterbury Town Clerk in person at 244-8447 and requesting an absentee ballot be sent to you, or going in person to the Town Clerk's office on the second floor of the village fire station and voting right then and there. If you are not yet registered to vote, you may still do so, also by immediately contacting the Town Clerk.

Please be sure that however you choose to vote, the issue that you thought you had voted for on Town Meeting Day is not yet decided and you must vote again in order to make clear your intentions!

The issue on the current ballot is simply whether or not to rescind the approval of the funding for the Municipal Complex. If rescission is approved on May 13th, the project CANNOT go forward. You should also be aware that the ballot asks only, (1) you FAVOR rescission (in which case the project IS NOT approved), or, (2) you OPPOSE rescission (in which case the project IS approved and can move forward). It is not a simple YES or NO response. In this case and adding to the already confusing situation, FAVOR means, in effect, NO - the project is dead, and OPPOSE means, in effect, YES - the project may proceed. Please read the ballot very carefully and respond appropriately.

And finally, remember that voting on Tuesday, May 13 will take place only at St. Leo's Hall behind the Catholic Church, from 7AM to 7PM.
