Dear neighbors,
The next Ward 5 Neighborhood Planning Assembly (NPA) meeting will take place Thursday, Sept 16 starting at 6:30 PM PM. The NPA is a monthly meeting, open to everyone, and was originally established by the City Council in 1982 when Bernie Sanders was Mayor of Burlington. It is a space for neighbors to meet each other, share concerns and questions, hear from city officials, activists, artists, business people and non-profit organizations. It's OUR meeting (= YOUR meeting) and thrives with your participation. During the pandemic, we have been meeting monthly via Zoom. Starting in September, the plan is to re-start in-person meetings. We hope to also have on-line access for those who can't make it in person.
The Ward 5 NPA is organized by a group of volunteers -- currently nine of us -- who are elected by the meeting itself each year. You probably know some of us: Kirstin Boehm, Lucia Campriello, Billy Clark, Joe Dery, Jillian Kirby, Nate Lantieri, Scott Pavek, Ben Traverse and me.
Also, please be aware of this: we are offering mini-grants from our budget to support neighborhood block parties throughout the summer. If you are organizing a block party and want to find out more, please contact me for more information.
Let's continue the conversation! Hope to see you on September 16.
