Astronomy Notes - Observing the Moon and the Sun
Come see the moon through telescopes at the Grout Observatory at People's Academy in Morrisville. You'll see craters, mountain ranges, and oceans of billion-year-old frozen lava. You won't see where the Apollo flights landed but you will see the general areas.
Join us this Thursday, June 17, starting at 8:30 PM, run by the Lamoille County Star Gazers.
The observatory is on the small rise on the right as you come up Copley Ave. and into the circle in front of the school. Please park in the student parking area by the bandshell and walk to the opposite side of the circle to get to the observatory. Dress warmly and carry a flashlight to use when coming up the path to the observatory.
In case of bad weather, we'll send out a cancellation via email, if we have your email address, that morning. If you're not sure, you can always email us at lcvtsg@gmail.com.
And the sun - if you plan to come to the first Oxbow concert on Wednesday, June 16, and if the sun is out, drop by our table to look at the sun through a specially designed solar telescope. We're not sure what we'll see – perhaps enormous arches of incandescent gas called prominences - the sun is unpredictable.
Clear skies...
