Central Vermont Council on Aging Sponsors Cross-Atlantic Memorable Times Online International Program
Memorable Times Online, the virtual memory café invites persons with memory loss and their care partners to join from home for a special international program, "A Trip to the Oscars -- Vermont and Scotland Share Screen Memories" on Wednesday, June 2nd from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
"Screen Memories" is an interactive live event produced by Memories International of Austin, Texas and Falkirk, Scotland. Our local memory café piloted cross-Atlantic programming with a similar group from Falkirk in February of this year to great success. The June program reconnects our groups and welcomes new folks to gather with us.
Participants will get to enjoy film clips from the 50's-60's and make their own choices of Oscar winners! This dementia-friendly program is specially designed to include and delight care partners living with memory loss. Registration by noon on June 1st is required to receive the link to the event, which will be held on ZOOM on Wednesday, June 2nd from 10:30 to 11:30 AM (late afternoon in Scotland!). Contact Barb Asen at Central Vermont Council on Aging for more information or to register: basen@cvcoa.org or 802-476-2681.
The Memory Café program model is part of a national and international movement to provide an inviting and relaxed atmosphere with opportunities for structured activities and participatory arts for those with memory loss and their care partners. Central Vermont Council on Aging's "Memorable Times Online" is social in nature, featuring opportunities to share and enjoy stories, memories, music and more. During the pandemic CVCOA pivoted to this online version of our monthly in-person "Memorable Times Café". CVCOA expects to resume in-person programming when conditions permit and continue the online gatherings as they have been a boon for many new participants.
