Trash/Green Up Day... A Few More Details

Past event
May 1, 2021, 9 AM to 1 PM

Few more details & resources about Green up day:

Time: May 1st, Drop Off between 9am and 1pm.
Where: Maple Corner Community Store OR Trash Depot on Moscow Woods Road

Free stuff that is not trash: Cabot Cheese has generously donated delicious cheddar snacks to reward you for your work at the drop-off sites. And, for each bag you collect, you will be entered in a raffle drawing. So far, prizes include maple syrup from Drew Lamb, Coffee from VT Coffee Roasters and 4 $10 Gift cards from Hunger Mountain Coop! (So swell what a generous community this is, eh?) Stay tuned for additional snacks and prizes in the works! The more bags you collect, the better your chance of winning a prize!

To help make this all easy, Green Greenup trash bags are now available at the Maple Corner Community Store and Adamant Coop, as well as in the entry way to the Town Office and on the porch of the East Calais Store (if you happen to notice any of those sites run out, please let us know and we'll restock!). If you grab a couple but find more trash than you have bags, it's OK to use your own trash bags - just please honor the honor system of not including personal household trash with your Greenup delivery. Unless you've dumped it along the roads. Just kidding. Of course you don't do that. Or wont do that again, I'm -sure-otherwise-lovely-couch-person/s. (I can be a couch person too...in a bit of a different way)

Sign Ups will be online again this year. Signing up is not required, certainly Greenup as much as you want, but this is a great way to check what's been done and what hasn't in an attempt to cover the whole town.

Click the below link to sign of for what section of road you are cleaning:

Please use caution when picking up trash. We recommend you wear bright colors and/or reflective vests, always be Covid-Safe, and be mindful of any potential dangers associated with items you collect. If you're unsure feel free to reach out to us for guidance. Also, good to be wary of ticks...so tick prevention clothes, sprays, whatever...

Reminder - we do not do roadside pickup, you are responsible for getting the items you collect now through Greenup Day, to one of our two collection sites on Green up Day. If you come across items that are too large for you to move or you are otherwise unable to transport them, let Jamie Moorby know (you can reply to this and I'll forward it to her, if you don't have her contact info) and we'll try to send a volunteer to pick up. That said, please do not just leave bags, tires, etc on the roadside without a pickup plan in place.
