The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum welcomes legendary World Cup and Olympic alpine ski racer, Phil Mahre to the virtual Red Bench as part of our Red Bench Speaker Series.
Phil Mahre, a native of Yakima, Washington, is widely regarded as one of America's greatest ski racing talents, along with his brother, Steve. Phil was a member of three US Olympic Teams in 1976, 1980, and 1984. At the 1980 Lake Placid games, he took silver in slalom, and at the 1984 Sarajevo games, he took gold in slalom.
Despite those extraordinary performances he is perhaps best remembered for winning the FIS Overall Alpine World Cup crowns from 1981-1983. Phil won 27 individual World Cup races and competed as a member of the US Ski Team from 1976-1984.
11x Olympic Games announcer, Peter Graves, will moderate the conversation and end with an audience Q&A.
This event is complimentary but a $10 donation is encouraged, appreciated, and helps VTSSM continue to carry out our mission to collect, preserve, and celebrate the rich history of skiing and riding in Vermont.
