Green Up Day is May 1

It's great to see people eager for Green Up Day this year. It's always the first Saturday in May so it's as early as possible this year - Saturday, May 1.

I'll be getting various pieces in place this week. Bags will be at the town offices inside the entry and at Sunflower Market on Rt. 100 by Tuesday, April 20.
There's an online signup where you can "claim" the spot you'd like to clean up. Just know that it's not required - all of the roadside trash and litter in the parks, etc. is fair game on Green Up Day. If someone gets to the place you wanted to clean before you do, just look around for another spot. The more people who use the signup though, the better, so folks can spread out.

Drop off what you've collected on Saturday, May 1 at one of two places: the town highway garage on Guptil Road in Waterbury Center just down from the Post Office (8-4) or at Rodney's Transfer Station on River Road near the Ice Center (8-2).

You also recycle used tires on Green Up Day for $4 each - take them to Rodney's. And if you have redeemable bottles/cans, you can drop them at the town garage where a student group will be collecting for a fundraiser.

Greening up is easy to do safely given COVID-19. Go out with people you live with or those in your bubble. Wear a mask, distance, etc.

There are more tips on the signup website. Here is the link: https://tinyurl.com/WaterburyGreenUp2021

ONE REQUEST: I could use some help this week getting posters around town. I have the posters and a list of spots. Maybe students off from school this week would be willing/able to lend a hand? Email me if you're interested.

Thanks in advance to everyone who helps pick up. It makes a big difference!
