P.M. Sundays Virtual Concert - Ethan Setiawan & Louise Bichan - Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Though the pandemic has all but brought live music to a halt there have been signs that musicians and presenters are finding ways to showcase performances in a safe manner and in real time. As we had hoped, in an effort to find the "opportunity during adversity",

Valley Stage Productions (VSP) is pleased to announce the first of what we hope will be a few performances to help "fill in the gaps" during the virus.

Orkney, Scotland born fiddler Louise Bichan and Indiana mandolinist Ethan Setiawan join forces to explore fiddle traditions from Scotland to Appalachia, via Scandinavia and Canada. New compositions, informed by these traditions and by the wealth of inspiration their current home of Boston (USA) has to offer, blend together with age old tunes.

Setiawan has won such accolades as the 2014 National Mandolin Championship, the 2017 RockyGrass Mandolin Championship and has shared the stage with the likes of Julian Lage, Darrell Scott, Bryan Sutton, Mike Marshall, Tony Trischka, Darol Anger, Casey Driessen, the Steel Wheels, Don Stiernberg, Matt Flinner, and Jacob Jolliff.

Bichan has won awards for her compositions and playing, and has traveled far and wide to perform in various line ups since a young age. She has appeared at the likes of the BBC TV's Hogmanay Live show, Edinburgh Castle, Reading Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Lorient Interceltique Festival, Milwaukee Irish Festival and Sligo Live festival. In 2016 she released her first solo album, Out of My Own Light, to great acclaim.

This will be a virtual "streamed" live concert , recorded at the Richmond Congregational Church that you can watch on your computer, smart phone or other mobile device.

The "Premiere" performance will be available on March 11 at 7:30 p.m. or can be screened "On Demand" for 48 hours until Saturday at midnight. If you can't make the 7:30 concert you can still watch at your convenience until 11:59 on March 13.

The artists will be in a chat room during the "Premiere" performance to react to your comments and questions.
