The Selectboard has voted to suspend traditional Town Meeting in 2021 due to restrictions in place to slow the spread of COVID-19. The Vermont Legislature passed Act 162 which allowed the Selectboard to vote to use Australian ballot (paper ballot) for any town meeting in 2021. Therefore, all Town Meeting items will be moved to Australian ballot, and the traditional Town Meeting format has been cancelled in 2021. This also eliminates the opportunity to make amendments to the FY22 budget from the floor at Town Meeting.
Due to this, all Richmond residents are encouraged to attend the special meeting of the Selectboard focused on the FY22 budget. A budget meeting will be held on January 11, 2021 at 7pm. This meeting will be held virtually with both login and call in options to join. This meeting is an opportune time to provide feedback on the budget before it is finalized for a vote. A link to the agenda (including login information) will be posted on Friday, January 8, 2021
If you are unable to attend the budget meeting you are welcome to provide feedback to Town Manager Josh Arneson or members of the Richmond Selectboard.
More information on this topic, including a draft FY22 budget and contact information for the Town Manager and Selectboard members, can be found on this page of the Richmond Town Website: http://www.richmondvt.gov/documents/fy22-draft-budget-documents/
