The Eleanor B. Daniels Fund, along with the Vermont Cancer Center (VCC), VTAAC and PT360 is pleased to be hosting an afternoon free program for survivors, their caregivers and family on Sunday, June 8 from 2;00 – 5:00 pm at the Inn at Shelburne Farms / North Porch. This is a unique opportunity to meet other survivors and their supporters in a beautiful setting and with a chance to enjoy some healthy and local hors d’oeuvres with produce from Shelburne Farms.

Twenty-three years ago on the first Sunday of June, Eleanor B. Daniels, along with her Cancer Support Group, spearheaded Vermont’s first Cancer Survivors Day held at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vt. Over 200 survivors, family members, friends and doctors came to the “Farm Barn” (before it was renovated) to picnic and celebrate life. At that time, Governor Madeline Kunin designated the first Sunday of June as Cancer Survivors Day in Vermont. The event was then held for four more years at Shelburne Farms and then followed by several Survivor Breakfasts at the Sheraton (hosted by EBD Fund and VTAAC).

This year is the second year that four organizations have come together to host the event to Northern Vermont and return the event to Shelburne Farms, the site of the first Cancer Survivors Day in Vermont. There are also now several other locations in Southern Vermont hosting events to celebrate the National Survivors Day, but this is the only event in Northern Vermont.
