We have 2 fun workshops coming up at Blockhouse!

September 13th- Learn the art of Shibori dying fabric and bring home beautiful, one of a kind pieces. You will learn the folding and tying techniques to achieve gorgeous patterns on fabric dyed with natural indigo. We provide one cotton tote bag and you can bring your own natural fiber items to dye as well, such as clothing, napkins, pillowcases, etc. We will also have some items for sale. In October we are running a Raku workshop for potters and ceramic artists with at least some experience with clay. Raku is an ancient firing method, sure to get your adrenaline rushing! We will cover 4 techniques of raku firing to achieve surprising, unique and stunning results. Participants can pick up their raku clay from the studio as soon as they have registered to begin making pieces, which must be bone dry by October 18th. We will have a 1.5 hour Terra Sigillata application session on October 18th, with the actual raku firing on October 24th & 25th.
