Tune in to Yestermorrow's Online Speaker Series this Wednesday 27 MAY at 7PM!
Agriculture as a Mechanism for Social Regeneration - Jon Turner, Wild Roots Farm Vermont
Jon Turner is a Yestermorrow alumni and founder of Wild Roots Farm Vermont. Wild Roots Farm Vermont is a 10-acre operation dedicated to farmstead education, bio-diversity and community engagement. By considering our relation to the landscape, our intentions and available natural resources, we continue to develop ecological food systems strongly influenced by agroforestry practices and climate resilience.
Since 2015 we have worked closely with college students, K-12, and military veterans on the farm through service learning projects, internships, workshops, and communal events. Throughout this time our work has been rooted in community building through food systems education pertaining to soil quality and eventually the meal that we share after engaging with the landscape.
It is our vision that the current and future generations will no longer feel disempowered by having a lack of access to healthy food or the ability to grow food. It is our mission to bridge communities by engaging with the edible landscape through an ecological lens.
This discussion will overview our operation, our values and intentions, the groups we have worked with and why this work is important.
