Old Growth & Forest Management for Storing Carbon

Past event
Mar 14, 2020, 1 to 3 PM

Join Dr. Tony D'Amato, UVM, and Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester, for a walk and talk about forest management at the Hinesburg Town Forest. Ethan and Tony will discuss forest growth, timber harvesting, carbon storage, and how management creates healthier forests through encouraging old growth.

The 864-acre Hinesburg Town Forest is managed for wildlife, recreation, water, air, and carbon sequestration as a model of sustainable forest management.

Meet at 1:00 PM on March 14th at the plow turnaround at the end of Economou Road, Huntington. Be prepared for the weather, although the forecast looks lovely! Walking trail is uneven and potentially slippery so wear appropriate boots.

This event is co-sponsored by the Vermont Woodlands Association, Vermont Coverts, the Chittenden County Forester, and the Charlotte Energy Committee. See you there!
