On Saturday afternoon March 7 from 1:30PM-3:30PM the members of the legendary Paris Piano Trio will take turns teaching advanced students of the violin, cello, and piano in a free public masterclass. A masterclass is essentially a one-on-one lesson between teacher and student in which the public observes. It is a kind of musical "goldfish bowl" and a powerful and exciting learning opportunity for the audience.
The Paris Piano Trio: Régis Pasquier–violin | Roland Pidoux–cello | Jean-Claude Pennetier–piano were distinguished faculty at the Paris Conservatory until their recent retirements. The three musicians met at the conservatory while they were teen-aged students there. They have received rave reviews from across the globe for their profound musicianship, exquisite sound, and remarkable sense of ensemble.
They will perform a concert that same night at 7:30PM. The program will be Mozart's Piano Trio No. 4 in E major, Beethoven's"Archduke" Trio, Op. 97 and Ravel's Trio in A minor. On Sunday, March 8 at 3PM they will perform Shostakovich's Trio in E minor, Brahms' Piano Trio No. 2 in C major, and Schubert's Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 99. These two concerts are the only performances that will do while in the US.
While the masterclass is FREE, student tickets are just $15 for the concerts. For more information and to order concert tickets ($15-$25) visit www.capitalcityconcerts.org
Won't you please share this with musicians in your family, neighborhoods, and schools? I'm certain this will be an unforgettable experience.
