Culomba, a professional vocal ensemble, known for their unique repertoire spanning American folk, Georgian, Corsican, Balkan, and Renaissance music brings their rich harmonies and eclectic folk traditions to life in the acoustically-wonderful Unitarian Church of Montpelier.
Why You Should Attend:
Capital City Concerts' bailiwick is Classical chamber music but occasionally we widen the scope. The members of Culomba are consummate musicians with training at top music conservatories in the US and abroad who have wide-ranging musical tastes. Other vocal ensembles sing music from folk traditions, but Culomba LIVES it! These musicians travel and embed themselves in communities, where they eat, sleep, sing, and live for periods of time. And it shows!
What to Expect:
Culomba's incredible vocalists—Sophie Michaux (mezzo-soprano/accordion), Adam Jacob Simon (tenor/baritone/plucked strings/composer), Lysander Jaffe (tenor/violin), Lexi Ugelow (alto/percussion), and Daniel Fridley (bass/wind instruments), deliver colorful, meticulous, and uplifting performances, weaving together fascinating stories, and a relaxed stage presence that draws the audience in. This is your chance to immerse yourself in the rich world of close harmony singing.
Mark your calendar now for Saturday, January 25, 3PM!
Whether you're a classical or folk music lover or simply looking for a heartwarming afternoon with friends or family, this is an experience not to be missed.
