Preview of Council Meeting

Past event
Feb 10, 2020, 7 to 9 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will hold its first of two meetings in the month of February.

We will begin our evening at 5pm with three expected Executive Sessions: one on the CityPlace Development Agreement, one on Moran and the last expected Executive Session on District Energy. These will all be verbal communications.

We have three items on deliberative agenda:

• Our first item is a presentation by our auditors who will review with us the 2019 Audit and financial statements.

• Our second item is a resolution to regarding a council on aging. A Senior Center Committee that the City Council created by resolution in early 2019 recommended such a council. This resolution charges the Council's Community Development and Neighborhood Revitalization Committee with implementing this recommendation with a report back to the full Council in May.

• Our last item is a resolution in support of the Vermont Lake Monsters and urges Major League Baseball to abandon the consideration of a plan that would effectively eliminate 42 minor league franchises of which the Lake Monsters would likely be among those facing elimination. The Lake Monsters have a positive effect on Burlington in many ways and it would be a loss to our City, from an enjoyment perspective, an economic point of view as well as an inspiration to many young baseball players and fans. The resolution further asks that our Congressional delegation take whatever steps necessary to discourage the MLB from implementing this plan.

You are always welcome to come to a Council meeting and speak on any topic you wish during public forum which begins at 7:30pm. You may access the Council agenda at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and can be streamed to your computer or phone via youtube.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are enjoying our snowy winter wonderland. Please be in touch with your comments, questions and concerns.

My best,
Karen
