"1800 and Froze to Death – The Cold Year of 1816"

Past event
Jan 22, 2020, 7 to 9 PM

Cold enough for you? Not as cold as it was in the winter of 1816! That was the year without a summer, a worldwide phenomenon. In Vermont, a state hit particularly hard, there were frosts every month, the skies were mostly dark, crops failed, and food was scarce. Friends of the New Haven Library invite you to hear Howard Coffin tell us this story on Wednesday, January 22 at 7 PM in the New Haven Town Offices. The talk is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council and is open to all.
