Join us in celebrating with some music, song, and history the remarkable story of the heroic Buffalo Soldiers and their contributions to Winooski in honor of Black History Month. The United Methodist Church of Winooski was the home church for many of the Buffalo Soldiers, their wives and children during the time they were garrisoned at Fort Ethan Allen, from 1909-1913. Many of the soldiers decided to retire here rather than deploy again. We remember and honor their ties and contributions to the United States, the church and the community.
Featured musicians include: Choir member of the Winooski Seventh Day Adventist Refugee Fellowship and renown Afro-Jazz Singer Irene KeruBo Webster; A2Vt, Vermont's on-the-move African-Hip Hop Fusion Band with their new CD "Twenty Infinity"; Stephan Conrady, master organist, playing the 100-year old Hall Organ; a Community Sing Along; and much more.
Refreshments will be served. The building is not wheelchair accessible, but assistance with navigating stairs will be provided.
