Harwood Refugee Club: Film Screening of "Undeterred"

Past event
Jan 23, 2020, 6 PM

Hello wonderful community, I hope this finds you well. As you may know, I'm a leader of Harwood's Refugee Outreach Club (ROC). ROC is a student-led initiative to support refugee and migrant rights, moving towards equity, justice and respect for all people, regardless of borders.

With the support of Claudia Becker, Harwood's ROC chapter is hosting a screening of Undeterred (at 6pm on January 23rd at the Big Picture Theatre) to increase awareness about the crisis at the U.S./Mexico border. This screening is part of the Big Picture's Mountaintop Film Series and will raise money for local groups who support migrant communities, including Migrant Justice and the Vermont ACLU.

At the end of the film, representatives from local migrants' rights groups will answer questions from the audience about immigration in Vermont.

I hope to see you there. Feel free to contact me with any questions!

When: 6PM on Thursday, January 23rd
About the film: Undeterred is a documentary about community resistance in the rural border town of Arivaca, Arizona. Since NAFTA, 9/11 and the Obama and Trump administrations border residents have been on the front-lines of the humanitarian crisis caused by increased border enforcement build up. Undeterred is an intimate and unique portrait of how residents in a small rural community, caught in the cross-hairs of global geo-political forces, have mobilized to demand our rights and to provide aid to injured, oft times dying people funneled across a wilderness desert.
