Montpelier Contradance with Nils, Cedar & Jesse

Past event
Jan 18, 2020, 8 to 11 PM

This Saturday, Jan. 18th, Nils Fredand will teach and call all the dances, and will be leading the "newcomers" session at about 7:45 PM. Nils has been calling dances, around the country and in New England for years. He'll help us all have a great time dancing together from 8:00 to 11:00. Come and join us for the intro session if you haven't done this kind of dancing before, or if you just want a "refresher".

Music for this evening will be by Cedar Stanistreet, on fiddle, and Jesse Ball on guitar, accordion and mandolin. Cedar, who lives in Brattleboro is also a member of bands like Nor'Easter, Cloud Ten and Cardinal Direction. He also frequently plays with Jesse, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist from western Mass. Jesse is part of the bands Polaris, Calluna and Rift. Together, they'll be playing hot music for a January night!

Nils will be using "Larks and Ravens" role terms for calling this dance.

Tips for dancers: bring clean shoes for dancing on "one of the best dance floors in New England", or clean them up with our tools. Wear light, comfortable clothing. Bring a water bottle, or keep hydrated with our water fountains. Come by yourself and find dance partners in our inclusive group, and bring your friends along too!
