Amtrak Storage and Servicing Location Neighborhood Meeting

When: Thursday, January 16th at 6:00PM
Where: The Community Room at Riverside Apartments
669 Riverside Avenue, Burlington

Beginning in 2021, Amtrak service, which currently runs between New York City and Rutland, will be extended to Burlington. The new northern terminus for Amtrak service will be Burlington's Union Station.

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission, the City of Burlington, and the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) conducted an evaluation of five potential locations for the overnight storage and servicing of the train. In December 2019, VTrans introduced a sixth potential overnight storage and servicing location located adjacent to the McNeil Generating Station in Burlington.

The Transportation, Energy, and Utilities Committee (TEUC) is hosting a meeting at which the Department of Public Works (DPW) and VTrans will be presenting the new potential overnight storage and servicing location adjacent to the McNeil Generating Station. Input will be gathered from the neighborhood. To request interpretation services for this meeting, please call 802-863-9094 or email: DPW-PineCustomerService@burlingtonvt.gov.

Additional information about this project and the overnight train storage and servicing study can be found on the project website at https://vtrans.vermont.gov/rail/amtrak-burlington or by contacting Dan Delabruere, VTrans Rail & Aviation Bureau Director, at 802-279-2647 or Daniel.Delabruere@vermont.gov
