Indivisible Mad River Valley and Lean Left Vermont are teaming up for a viewing and discussion of Suppressed: The Fight To Vote on Monday, January 20th at 6 pm at the Mountaintop Film Series at the Big Picture Theatre & Cafe in Waitsfield.

Suppressed: The Fight to Vote is a new documentary by Robert Greenwald. Through personal stories from voters across the state of Georgia, Greenwald documents how targeted voter suppression in the 2018 midterm election impacted Stacey Abrams' run to become the first black female governor in the United States.

This brief film is powerful, energizing, disturbing, and motivating all at once. Harwood Union High School students will facilitate a Socrates Cafe–style discussion about the problem of voter suppression following the film focused on how the voices of hundreds of thousands of voters were silenced in 2018 -- and how they continue to be silenced in this 2020 election year.

Viewers will walk away with concrete actions to take that will protect the right to vote and promote free and fair elections, especially in voter suppression states.

This event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10+ at the door. RSVPs are not required but would be appreciated. RSVP and donate ahead of time at bit.ly/suppressed-RSVP. All donations will benefit Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight 2020, which is building voter protection teams in 20 key states across the country.
