Sourdough Workshop

Fresh sourdough starter is a wonderful product to have at your disposal. Bread, pancakes, waffles, buns... there are so many delicious recipes calling for it. The key is to create and maintain your sourdough starter so that it's healthy, happy, and ready to go when you want.

This workshop given by Jim Haas, head baker of Rise Up Bakery, will be a good source of knowledge for both new and experienced home bakers.

What you will learn and do during the workshop:
- The various types of flour and how they differ
- How to make your own wheat sourdough
- Maintaining and feeding (daily basis, vacation period) your starter
- Troubleshooting
- Sourdough baking (baker's math for sourdough)
- Forming and baking sourdough loaves

Date: Sunday, December 15
Place: Rise Up Bakery, 48 Granite St, Barre, VT
Time : from 1 to 5 p.m.
Limited to 12 participants

All ingredients are organic and provided by the bakery.
Every person will leave with a small loaf of sourdough wheat bread and a sourdough starter (upon request).
