Kick off the Traditional Christmas Weekend with Sarah Dillard, Vermont Children's Book Author and Illustrator on December 6, 2019 at 3:30pm. Learn more about how Sarah writes and illustrates and join us for an interactive drawing session.
Sarah Dillard studied art at Wheaton College and illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her first author/illustrated book, Perfectly Arugula, was published in 2009 and the audiobook version won the Gold Award for the 2010 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) Storytelling competition.
She is the author-illustrator of the critically-acclaimed young graphic reader, Extraordinary Warren and its sequel, Extraordinary Warren Saves the Day. Her latest picture book I Wish it Would Snow was on the CBC Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People list for 2019. It's sequel I Don't Like Rain will be released in the spring of 2020.
Sarah is inspired by the beautiful mountain she lives on, and doesn't feel a day is complete without a walk in the woods. She hopes to create picture books that transport young minds into magical worlds, just as she was as a child. Sarah lives in Vermont with her husband and chocolate lab.
The Children's lantern parade and Tree lighting will follow at 4:30pm at the Stowe Elementary School behind the Library.
