Nov 25, 2019, 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Local group looking for members and videographers!

Please come to supper and a meeting with others who are concerned about the rights of immigrants near and far, on November 25th at 5:30pm. It will take place at the Rights and Democracy office at 241 North Winooski Ave in Burlington. Everyone who supports equal treatment of immigrants and migrants is welcome.

We are especially looking for people with the skills to help us make some brief videos illustrating key points in the struggle and calling for action. If you have video skills and are interested in helping out, please reach out to Bria at byazic@gmail.com.

Community Voices for Immigrant Rights (CVIR) began meeting the end of June, 2019 when people were taking to the streets in opposition to the family separations and child concentration camps that had been broadly exposed. There was a clear need to come together in community and plan best ways to support both local and national efforts seeking immigrant justice. CVIR is a collaboration of many groups, organizations, and individuals led by the Peace & Justice Center and Women's March Vermont. We meet bi-weekly and always offer childcare (with notice) and serve supper to make it a welcoming and inclusive space. The meetings are working meetings that typically start with a current event update, some solidarity announcements about other social justice and peace events, updates from working groups, and then break out sessions with the working groups. The groups consist of education, No Mas Polimigra, and action.
