Dear friends and neighbors,
Karen Kevra, the Grammy-nominated flutist who lives in Cornwall and who you may heard perform at my husband Jim Blair's celebration concert at the close of his exhibit in August, is putting on a substantial concert next weekend in two venues. I recommend that you attend what will be a wonderful world-class concert! Below is the information. Sincerely, Elise Blair
On the heels of last season's extraordinarily successful Magnificat performance Capital City Concerts brings another big Bach concert on Saturday October 19 at 7:30PM at Saint Augustine Church in Montpelier and on Sunday October 20 at 3PM at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Burlington. "Sleepers Awake!" (Wachet Auf, BWV 140) is perhaps the most beloved of Bach's cantatas. World-class singer soloists, a chorus, and a professional orchestra composed of Vermont musicians with players from the New York City Ballet and Opera Orchestras, Mostly Mozart, and the Orchestra of Saint Luke's will be directed by Richard Riley. Other works on the program include a selection of arias featuring each vocal soloist and violinist Laurie Smukler will be the soloist in Bach's resplendent Violin Concerto in A minor, BWV 1041. Advance sale tickets at www.capitalcityconcerts.org. ($15-$25)
