Come join us on Sunday, September 22nd for the next BBCC Community Day, a Community Harvest Swap with a Potluck Lunch & Family Contra Dance!
This will be a venue for neighbors to bring and exchange their home-made, home-grown & hand-crafted goods! Bring your extra fruits & veggies, herbs, preserves, baked goods & crafts to trade with your neighbors, and leave with plenty of new and exciting things to try & enjoy! Afterwards, folks can stay for a yummy potluck & a family contra dance!
10:45 to 11am: Arrive to set up your swap goods
11:30am: Swap begins!!
1:30pm Potluck Lunch
3pm to 5pm Family Contra Dance!
Where: Broad Brook Community Center on Guilford Center Road
Details & general guidelines for the swap:
** Items for swapping can include things like (but not limited to):
~ fruits & veggies from your gardens
~ preserves and ferments (sauerkraut, jam, etc.)
~ baked goods
~ maple syrup or honey
~ homemade cheese, yogurt, butter…
~ dried herbs, tinctures, or salves…
~ flowers, fibers, seeds, crafts & even firewood would all be fun swapping items!
** Swappers can arrive from 10:30 to 11am to grab a name-tag & set up their harvest swap goods, (tables will be provided) At 11:30, we'll introduce ourselves & share a little about what we brought to swap, then the swapping will begin!
** This harvest swap is family friendly – kids can swap too! Younger ones might need help from their adults.
** Keep in mind that swapping is voluntary; feel free to decline swap offers from others if their items aren't something you would use or enjoy, and try to make sure swaps feel fair and mutually beneficial.
** If you are bringing preserved/prepared foods to swap, please bring a card with the ingredients to display with your items (paper/pens will be provided in case you forget.)
What to bring: Swapping goods, samples of your goods if you wish, cards with ingredients of
prepared/preserved goods, a box or basket to take home your items, a cooler if items need to be
kept cold & a sumptuous potluck dish!
