Capital City Concerts presents a new mini-series of consecutive Friday noon "Meditation concerts" on September 6, 13, and 20 in the Cedar Creek Room of the Vermont State House. The FREE concerts give listeners the opportunity to experience world-class performances in a reflective way through 30-minute meditations to live music.
Each concert will be performed by one solo instrumentalist. The doors will open at noon, and audience members will find a seat and begin a period of silent meditation. There will be no announcements and no printed programs. At 12:15 a bell will be rung and the live music will begin with short pauses in the music but no applause. The performers will be Jennifer Hoult, harpist (September 6); Karen Kevra, flutist (September 13); and Emily Taubl, cellist (September 20).
The new mini-concert series, an extension of Capital City Concerts and in collaboration with the Friends of the Vermont State House, was conceived by Capital City Concerts Artistic Director Karen Kevra. "This is our milestone twentieth season and we wanted to give something back to our extraordinary audience who has supported Capital City Concerts with enthusiasm for two decades. Our hope for the concerts is to provide a space for pure, deep, and present listening in an exquisite venue that is literally the heart of the Capital City."
