The Shrewsbury Co-op at Pierce's Store, celebrating its tenth anniversary, will conclude its celebration of the films of Vermont filmmaker Nora Jacobson with a double feature on Thursday August 15th at 6.30pm in the Garage Annex.
The Hanji Box (released 2016) is the journey of an adoptive mother seeking to understand her adopted daughter's Korean heritage, history and culture (run time 1 hour). Raghead (released 2018) is a short film about a firefighter who is surprised when his blind date shows up wearing an Islamic veil (run time 18 minutes).

Nora Jacobson is a Norwich-based filmmaker devoted to telling stories of cultural diversity and place. She created the collaborative 6-part film series "Freedom & Unity: The Vermont Movie". She is currently working on a couple of screenplays inspired by historical figures. One involves Hannah Duston who was captured by an Abenaki war party and ended up slaying her captors. The other centers on Lucy Terry Prince, a black poet and abolitionist who settled in Guilford Vermont in 1760.

Seating in Pierce's Garage is limited, and we anticipate the event will sell out. Pierce's is offering advance tickets which can be obtained at the store or online by going to www.eventbrite.com and searching on 'Pierce's Store' (Eventbrite charges a small fee for online orders) . Tickets are sold on a donation basis (suggested donation $10).
