Past event
Aug 4, 2019, 4 to 6 PM

On Sunday, August 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, we will be holding a free program--Guardians of Peace and Planet--at the entrance to the Burlington International Airport in the green space at the corner of Airport Drive and Patrick Street. The event will be peaceful, fun, educational, and family-friendly.

You are invited to Guardians of Peace and Planet: A demonstration against the F35s. Here are event details:
Attendees of all ages are encouraged to make cardboard shields and signs with various messages and to come dressed as "alternative" super heroes (Green Man, Green Woman, Water Spirit, Clean Air God/dess, Earth Maiden, World Citizen, Peacenik, Conservationist, Environmentalist, etc.). We want to honor the peacemakers, those of us who work for economic justice, people, the planet, the environment, and more.

"Bunker Bob" will serve as the emcee for a program that will feature anti-nuclear messages along with information about the health impacts of the F35s from noise pollution to PFAS contaminants. Bread and Puppet Theater and Tom Nielsen, Music for Social Change, will perform along with a number of other local musicians. Nielsen has appeared with Medea Benjamin, Amy Goodman, Cesar Chavez, Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader, Howard Zinn, and many others.
