Emerald Ash Borer Public Meeting
Tuesday, July 23, 2019, 6:00pm
Upstairs at Holley Hall, 1 South Street, Bristol

Emerald ash borer (EAB), a destructive and invasive beetle that feeds on and kills all species of ash trees, has recently been detected in Bristol. EAB was first detected in North America in 2002 and is now present in 35 states and 5 Canadian provinces. In Vermont, in addition to Addison County, EAB is now confirmed in Orange, Washington, Caledonia, Grand Isle, Bennington, and Orleans Counties. Join local and state officials to learn about the insect and its impact in Vermont, what you can do to help slow the spread of EAB, and management options for landowners and homeowners.

This event is FREE and no registration is required. To learn more about EAB in Vermont, visit www.VTInvasives.org.

Directly following the public meeting will be an intensive training on the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program's Rural Roadside Ash Inventory Tool, which supports municipalities in assessing their roadside ash tree populations. This training is intended for municipal staff, Tree Wardens, Conservation Commission or Tree Committee members, or others specifically engaged in municipal planning for emerald ash borer. Registration is required and the training is limited to 15 participants. Learn more here: https://vtcommunityforestry.org/news/events/rural-roadside-ash-inventory-tool-training-addis[...]ies.
