The Grand Isle Historical Society is pleased to sponsor a talk and demonstration at the Block School by Kerry R. Wood of the Vermont Abenaki Artists Association. She is a member of an Abenaki family of basket makers who have woven traditional ash and sweetgrass baskets for generations. Kerry will also have information about the impact of the emerald ash borer insect on the ash trees in our area. She will speak immediately following the 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM Annual Meeting of the Historical Society. In conjunction with this program, the display case at the Block School is filled with Abenaki fancy baskets loaned by Sally Picard. Please join us – you do not need to be a member of the Historical Society to attend. Light refreshments will be served. The Hyde Log Cabin will also be open that evening. 228/230 US Rt. 2 next to the Grand Isle Elementary School.
