The 49th Annual Colchester 4th of July Celebration is quickly approaching! Residents and visitors are invited to join the Colchester Parks & Recreation Department in celebrating Independence Day with a 5K Fun Run, parade down Blakely Road, and evening filled with music, inflatables, food trucks, and fireworks at Bayside Park!
The day begins with a 5K Fun Run starting at 8:15 AM at Union Memorial School and traveling down Middle Road and back. Race registration will be at Union Memorial School from 7:30 – 8:00 AM. Thank you to Shaw's Supermarket for providing post-race refreshments!
The 49th Annual 4th of July Parade will take place at 11:00 AM on Blakely Road. The route runs about one mile, from Colchester High School to Lavigne Road. Visitors are welcome to park in public lots at the High School, Middle School, Malletts Bay School, and Colchester Town Offices; please do NOT park along the Blakely Road shoulder on Thursday. Expect some traffic delays in the area, as Blakely Road will be closed for the duration of the parade.
Bayside Waterfront lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Visit the waterfront to swim, or rent a kayak, paddleboard or pedal boat with Bayside Paddle Sports from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM at Bayside Beach. The Bayside Inflatable Water Park will also be open normal hours. Visit http://bit.ly/BaysidePaddleSports for details on rates and terms of use.
Entertainment at Bayside Park begins at 5:00 PM with inflatables and food vendors. We are excited to welcome many food trucks this year! Save your appetite and dine at Bayside before the fireworks. Enjoy tasty options from:
• Colchester Lions Club (burgers and hot dogs)
• Bluebird Barbecue (Pork Sandwiches, Mac & Pork, Coyote Nachos, and more specialty BBQ fare)
• Taco Truck All Stars (Tacos, Nachos, Burritos and more)
• Waffly Good Ice Cream (Ice cream and homemade waffle cones)
• A-Maize-ing Kettle Korn (popcorn & kettle corn)
• Easy As Cake (baked goods)
• DoughBro (mini cake donuts)
• Malletts Bay Congregational Church (fresh fruit, nut bars, and candy bars)
[Unfortunately, Palmer Lane Maple has chosen to no longer attend this event with their creemee truck. We found this out after printing the event brochures and the "Colchester Sun" article was submitted. Our apologies to those looking forward to visiting them. We hope you'll visit Waffly Good Ice Cream, Easy as Cake, and DoughBro for some sweet treats instead!]
Live music will again be provided by "The Hitmen," playing your favorite party rock tunes from the '70s, '80s, '90s, and '00s from 6:45 – 8:45 PM.
The fireworks show will take place at dusk and will be launched from the Bayside Softball Field. Parking for evening events is available at Colchester High School, Colchester Middle School, and Malletts Bay School. The Bayside Park Lot is reserved for food trucks and handicapped parking only.
