Do you like to sew? Would you like to learn how to make your own bag? Sick of single-use plastic among us? Come and join us in Sewing for Change, making Re-Bags out of donated fabric.
We're helping our community, stitch by stitch – a Re-Bag a Day keeps the plastic away, so use daily! Refuse-Reuse-Recycle-Re-Bag......S. 113 was signed by Governor Scott to decrease the use of single use plastic bags, for a healthier community and planet. The bill goes into effect July 2020, but we want to be ready long before that!
We'll be sewing at a Pop-Up at Bundle on 60 Main St. in Middlebury, Monday, July 8, from 10 a.m. – 3 pm. This will be during the Festival on the Green, so come and enjoy both!
If you have a sewing machine, bring it – if not, come anyway, as there will some to share, and we'll provide fabric, thread, instruction sheets, enthusiasm and mentoring! Irons and ironing boards will be available, as well as cutting areas.
We've made over 300 bags so far and have given them all away to help with the transition from plastic bags to cloth bags for shopping.
If you have questions, please contact Bethany at: 462-2000 or bethanybarryvt@comcast.net We would also welcome people who wish to sew at home, and donations of fabric – just let us know!
