One of Vermont's top filmmakers -- Nora Jacobson, best known for The Vermont Movie -- will be appearing at Pierce's Garage Annex for the screening of her first feature-length film, My Mother's Early Lovers, at 7pm on Thursday June 27th. Based on a diary found by Vermont author Sybil Smith (who was co-writer of the film), the film centers on a young woman's exploration of her mother's past, uncovering a secret at the heart of her family's history. NPR called it "a wonderful film...subtle, thoughtful, funny..." Run time is 103 minutes. The film is unrated but contains adult scenes.
Because seating is limited, Pierce's is selling advance tickets and only seven remained unsold as of Friday. Ticket prices are on a donation basis (suggested donation $10) -- proceeds will go to cover the cost of the film series and for Nora's travel expenses. Tickets can be purchased at Pierce's Store or online for a small additional fee at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/celebrating-vermont-filmmaker-nora-jacobson-my-mothers-early-lo[...]589 (or go to www.eventbrite.com and search for Pierce's Store).
